Palace Cinemas in Byron Bay has reopened with a new 9-screen cineplex as part of the Mercato on Byron shopping centre, after four years in design and construction.

At the end of May this year, Matthew will be presenting at an international BIM conference, once again. The BiLT Conference started life as ArchiCON – a conference for ARCHICAD users, which became co-located with the Revit Technology Conference. Since then, the ARCHICAD community have been welcomed with open arms at the rebranded BiLT conference incorporating the best of all BIM platforms. Matthew will be presenting at BiLT in Adelaide on the topic of Managing Massive Models. Matthew will utilise Powe Architects’ recently completed Town Square Redbank Plains project as a case study. He will demonstrate how we managed over 15GB of BIM data to produce over 300 A0 drawings for the 27 000m²+ retail centre.”
POWE Architects work on the Coles redevelopment of the retail heart of Alderley has featured recently in the North-West News. The project was not long ago approved by Brisbane City Council and has the support of many businesses and residents in the local area.
Cr Andrew Wines (Enoggera) welcomes the revamp. “I think that we really need a rejuvenation. I think that the Coles development, while modest, will go a long way to make the centre more attractive.”

POWE Architects Director Len Powe has once again been quoted in bmag‘s bPROPERTY section with his comments on apartment living in proximity to retail centres.
“When we designed Village Residences we did so with the end-user in mind and we were pleased that investors also saw the value in buying in a primarily owner-occupied building so close to shops and public transport,” Powe says.
David Aubrey examines the trends and benefits to apartment living outside the usual inner-city areas. With suburbs like Carindale, Indooroopilly, Upper Mount Gravatt, Chermside, Toombul and The Gap now all seen as thriving retail centres the move towards more generous sized apartments aligned to these centres is growing.
