On Wednesday, 7 March 2018, Len attended a half day seminar, “Legal Essentials for Property Developers” which was presented by the Queensland Property Team from McCullough Robertson Lawyers and sponsored by The Urban Developer. The workshop delivered a step by step guide through the experience of buying, selling, funding and building using the hypothetical development of a well-known site at Albion.

While there was much that was already understood and in everyday practice for many of the more experienced attendees, these presentations are very informative for the people who operate on the fringes or in a small segment of the property development space and to the young professionals new to the industry.  Even for the more experienced, if you only gain a small additional insight, it is important to attend these professional functions as they can often trigger new ideas and inspiration and are useful as a reminder or confirmation of knowledge, procedures or techniques that reinforce what we do and, most importantly, why we do it.

The topic was ambitious for its allocated time and unfortunately, much of the material was rushed however; it was an excellent opportunity to meet the McCullough Robertson team and get a better understanding of their specialist legal skills in a complex field.

We also like to support the team at The Urban Developer, who create the opportunities for these networking forums. In a relatively short period, TUD has become one of Australia’s most engaged and progressive communities of property developers and industry professionals and they have become increasingly relevant as a leading source of information, events and education to our industry
