After two long years of planning the dream has finally become a reality… living abroad in Vancouver, Canada. With not much more than a passport, my dog, Polly, and 44kgs of luggage (basically jumpers), I have taken the plunge and left the familiar behind. While the 23-degree temperature difference nearly brought me to tears, a couple more thermal layers and this coastal city is too easy to fall in love with.

Vancouver is honestly like a postcard; everywhere you look you see a new side of what the city has to offer, from the chromatic undertones of Downtown to the brightly hued landscape that surrounds. It also offers such a diverse range of opportunities to explore and experience the city, from bustling underground jazz clubs, to snowboarding hotspots. The city very pet friendly, luckily for Polly! It even has cat cafes for the feline fanatics. Highlights so far have been the 24hour restaurants that serve chicken and donuts (personal favorite!), art gallery crawls, paddle boarding, wine tours of the Okanagan and of course more hikes than you could poke a stick at!

It’s not hard to see why so many people flock to the city of Vancouver… me included!
