Julie recently spent two weeks exploring Rajasthan in north-west India with daughter Amy. They travelled west from Delhi through the Thar Desert towards the Pakistan border then south to the more populated centres of Jodhpur, Udaipur, the pink city of Jaipur and Agra, home to the magical Taj Mahal.
Recapping on her experience Julie describes India as a “diverse landscape with gracious people– and fantastic architecture! The temples, palaces, shrines and forts are like something from a storybook displaying magnificent workmanship with intricate carving, frescoes and inlaid marble. They have such a rich history, culture and spirituality, as well as fabulous food. The extreme June temperatures were challenging but had the benefit of reduced tourists.”
So impressed by their trip Julie and Amy both plan to return and explore the southern area, to round out the experience of this vast country.
