Over the past 20 years Matthew has been continually researching and applying the methods and strategies of integrated building information modelling techniques to our growing architectural practice. His interests now lie in working with other design and procurement consultants to deliver coordinated design outcomes for built projects through a cooperative model based environment.
Matthew is regularly invited to present at international conferences on his experience in BIM, Data Exchange, and Model Management. He currently contributes to the Graphisoft Development Consultant program on the direction of software platform evolution and is recognised as a key contributor to data exchanges with other authoring platforms including CostX. Matthew is currently working on the implementation impacts to the Australian market from the newly released ISO19650 BIM standards.
Matthew is the driving force behind the development of POWE Architects’ industry leading approach to technology assisted project delivery. Recognised by his peers for the approach, Matthew regularly addresses client, consultant and contractor gatherings on applying BIM based methodologies to their design, documentation and procurement workflows. Matthew’s work with developing ISO9001.2016 based quality management systems provides a quality based approach to leveraging new technology in ways that ensure project quality is maximised for the client.
Matthew also leads project delivery teams within the Practice to deliver retail, commercial and residential projects on scales from $1-100M. Recently completed projects include Town Square Redbank Plains, various Coles anchored shopping centres, North Shore Stockland in Townsville, Milton Edge residential tower for Australand, and the refurbishment of the boutique retail precinct at Eagle Street Pier for Stockland. Matthew led the documentation teams on the multi-storey commercial headquarters for both Ausenco and Dialog House in South Brisbane and a 1,400-vehicle parking station for the PA Hospital. Matthew was also responsible for the reinstatement of the BoysTown office headquarters in Milton after the January 2011 Brisbane floods.
“As an industry leader in the adoption of BIM technologies, he works closely with other disciplines to ensure a coordinated approach and actively participated with buildability and safety throughout the design process.”
