This year, Mark Thompson’ annual pilgrimage to the Rainbow Beach Fishing Competition became a 15-year tradition.
This year was somewhat more relaxed; the offshore boat stayed at home in favour of spending time with my young son beach fishing and exploring the creeks in a tinny and kayak.
We also tried our drone with some aerial photos of the beaches around Rainbow. As you can see, conditions were excellent! We even had our first crack at drone finishing! We set the drone to carry out large bait from the shore to the ocean blue water. Unfortunately, our attempts here were unsuccessful, but it was an interesting experiment nonetheless!
The weather was fantastic and we caught wide variety of fish including Tarwhine, Taylor, Grass Tuskfish & Trevally.
